Frame step 1

I bought a frame many years ago. As I work on it, I found that it needed much more work than I expected. I went to a junkyard to help my son and found a YJ with a good frame and tub. The junkyard would not sell me everything, I needed to pull the axles and drivetrain. I sold the tub and the frame I originally purchased for more than I paid the junkyard for the frame above. I also have a pile of other parts and springs with a 4″ lift. The frame above is after I took a wire wheel to it.

Frame after cleaning

Here it is after I took flappy disks and a media blaster to it.

Painted Frame

Here it is after I used Duplicolor Rust Barrier on it. I used a quart and brushed it on. The reviews on it were good. Only time will tell how well it works for me.

I am still researching what I want to put on the inside of the frame. I found a company 2 hours away that undercoats cars with FluidFilm’s undercoating. I have been debating about using that or Eastwood’s frame product. This company estimated $75 to do the inside of the frame. I will update this once I decide.

Once the inside is done, I plan to spray paint everything. UV light can break down the Rust Barrier according to the duplicolor website.
